hurrah, I've managed to finish a new painting!

Bragi is the Norse God of song and poetry - he is born from the sea, and his song wakens all things on earth - he also wakes Iduna, the Goddes of spring and eternal youth, who is born out of the earth. He is going to marry her, and she will be the keeper of the apples that give eternal youth to the Ases. Valhalla has just been built and its rainbow bridge is down, so the Gods can take a stroll on the newly created earth, and it's the first sunrise of the first day.

Somehow, since I've been living in New Zealand, I have difficulties recreating the dim light conditions of a Nordic day though... well let's assume that when the world was new, everything was brighter.

Hope you like! :D

Oh my, I love these bright soft colors, and the plants and flowers are very detailed. You made the water look so clean and sparkly too! My pops is Norweigian so I know all the stories and fables from the mythology. This is a very nice painting, just lovely! ^^

thank you! It's actually a re-working of a very old watercolour painting of mine, which was one of the first pictures I did that stopped looking childish and started looking a bit more like art. I was very happy with the water and the flowers I did back then, but the figures were less of a success - so I thought I'd have a go at re-doing it. I like the way it's turned out but that Bragi still looks a li-i-ittle bit out of place, don't you think?
