Earthsea: Flight from Oskillby *frodo-lives

Earthsea illustration project continued...

Yay, I got the paintbrushes out again, after my long-ish winter break, and finished another painting!

This is an illustration for the first book in Ursula Le Guin's "Earthsea" series, "A Wizard of Earthsea".

It's the story of Ged, also called Sparrowhawk, a young goat herd boy from the coarse mountain island of Gont who goes on to become the most powerful wizard of his time.

This scene illustrates his flight from the Tower of the Terennon, on the wintery island of Oskill. Ged transforms into a falcon and his friend Serret into a gull (you can see her way in the back), to flee the evil creatures that Serret's husband, the keeper of the evil Terennon stone, loosens on them ...
