Colour version of the ink drawing I submitted earlier. Coloured the original drawing in Photoshop. Looks pretty cartoony to me!

This was the "perspective" assignment for my London Art College Sci-Fi & Fantasy Art course. I've often navigated round having to use strict perspective, and wasn't so happy with this result at first, but it's been sort of growing on me...

I imagine this is some sort of sacred place hidden away in a different dimension (a dimension of tinyness I suppose) - something like the legend of the Castle of the Holy Grail, which can only be found by the chosen ones.

(I might have done this as a watercolor, if I had bethought myself earlier, or if I'd had the time. Then again: first full painting done with my new large size tablet, yay!!!)

I like that!
Oh you also bought a new bigger tablet? I can't wait to try it out in a painting!

Wow -- judging from the number of faves and views in a short time, maybe I should do uninspired artwork more often.... :santa:

The question is: how can I apply this knowledge to this Penguin contest thing I'm working on?
Choose the version I like least?

One trick is never to submit a piece you don't like to a client. They will always choose that one. :) As for the rest it is very subjective.

 - but that's just artistic ego, no?
But how to figure out how make this principle work for one.... hmmm. Maybe the secret of success? Never submit a piece you *do* like. :(

In short it's a matter of taste. Then again I judge my stuff according to how hard it was to do and if I got it as I wanted to. Maybe that is artistic ego, I don't know. But people usually see something completely different.
I've noticed that cats and dogs sell very well ;)

Yeah. Well, maybe one needs to swallow one's pride and produce a contingent of cats and dogs to cross finance the things one really wants to do? Sure beats flipping burgers!
Although on the other hand I have to say, I have just come to the conclusion that I will never ever perform at another wedding ever again. Funerals, baptisms, birthdays, Christmasses, Easters, Halloweens, anything -- but no weddings. :vomit:

... it's good! It's nice! You get to keep your own favorite pieces, and can get rid of all the stuff you don't want to see anyway!

I've had it bought for me, as usually happens, with anything that costs money. It's great - much better control of the pen for one, and it comes with buttons on the side that are actually LABELED, which helps enormously -- much more ergonomic design than the old range of tablets, I do need to properly study the instructions though. But it helps to have a scroll wheel, and the option to change to the hand tool at a button click, and the shift/control/alt keys on the tablet, too. :) (maybe they were there before, but I never figured it out. :S)
