Medieval town wall, Luebben

Travel sketcthing: Went to the Spreewald with a good old friend for a weekend - this is what is left of the old fortifications of Lübben, one of the Spreewald towns.

Maybe I should have gone a bit easy on those alder trees in the foreground -- still, the Spreewald is an area of swamps, little canals, and lots of alder forest, and the last refuge for what used to be the Slavonic speaking population of the north-eastern part of Germany (they still have a Slavonic ethnic minority there, the Sorben) - so the sense that the old town is hidden away in the woods and swamp is perhaps quite appropriate.
